GoFiChat is built from the ground up with privacy as a core principle. We collect no personal data, store no messages, and have no access to your communications.
1. Overview
GoFiChat ("the App," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our application handles information when you use our peer-to-peer communication service.
The short version: We don't collect, store, or transmit your personal data because we literally can't. The App operates entirely on your local device and communicates directly with other nearby devices without using any servers.

- Your location data
- Your messages or communications
- Your contacts or address book
- Your photos or media
- Your device ID or advertising identifiers
- Usage analytics or behavioral data

3. How GoFiChat Works (Technical Privacy)
GoFiChat operates on a fundamentally different model than typical messaging apps:

3.1 Peer-to-Peer Architecture
All communications in GoFiChat occur directly between devices using:
- WiFi Direct - Direct device-to-device WiFi connections
- Bluetooth - For discovery and short-range communication
- Apple Multipeer Connectivity - iOS peer-to-peer framework
- Google Nearby Connections - Android peer-to-peer framework
No data ever passes through our servers because we don't operate any servers.
3.2 End-to-End Encryption
All communications are encrypted using:
- X25519 key exchange
- ChaCha20-Poly1305 authenticated encryption
- Ephemeral keys generated fresh for each session
Encryption keys are created when a session starts and permanently destroyed when the session ends. We have no ability to decrypt your communications.
3.3 Ephemeral Sessions
GoFiChat sessions are temporary by design:
- No message history is saved
- No logs are created
- No data persists after the App is closed
- Session data exists only in device memory during active use
4. Device Permissions
GoFiChat requires certain device permissions to function. Here's why we need them and what we do (and don't do) with them:
Why it's required: Android's operating system requires location permission to scan for nearby Bluetooth and WiFi devices. This is a system-level requirement, not our choice.
What we do: Absolutely nothing. We do not access, use, store, or transmit your location data. The permission is only used by the Android OS to allow nearby device discovery.
Why it's required: To scan QR codes for joining sessions.
What we do: The camera is used solely to decode QR codes. No images are stored, transmitted, or processed in any other way.
Why it's required: For peer-to-peer communication.
What we do: Used only to establish direct connections with other GoFiChat users nearby. We don't access your WiFi network or pair with other devices.
5. Data Security
Since we don't collect or store any data, there is no data to secure on our end. However, we've designed the App with security in mind:
- All communications are encrypted end-to-end
- Keys are ephemeral and never stored
- Sessions are temporary and leave no traces
- No servers means no central point of attack
6. Third-Party Services
GoFiChat does NOT integrate with:
- Analytics services (Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, etc.)
- Advertising networks
- Crash reporting services
- Social media platforms
- Any third-party SDKs that collect user data
The App uses only platform-provided networking frameworks (Apple Multipeer Connectivity, Google Nearby Connections) which are built into iOS and Android.
7. Children's Privacy
GoFiChat is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children. Since we collect no data at all, there is no children's data to protect or delete.
8. International Users
Since GoFiChat operates entirely on local device connections and doesn't transmit data to any servers, there are no international data transfers to disclose. Your data never leaves your local network.
9. GDPR, CCPA, and Other Privacy Laws
GoFiChat is designed to comply with privacy regulations by default:
